360 Selfie Rig
360 installation to create 360 video
Role: Engineer, Software Development, Hardware Fabrication
The 360 Selfie Booth was an idea that Spies & Assassins made for Internet Week and adapted for a series of Bacardi events run by Vice Magazine. A motor arm installation allowed users to set their phones in video mode and capture a revolving 360 degree video. This photo booth was a fun and simple execution that allowed event attendees to capture the experience and take it with them.
I was in charge of repurposing the hardware and the software used in previous installations. I wrote new code and created custom hardware for the arm, along with adding new parts to allow the Vice team to install at 5 different venues across the country. Using a geared DC precision motor, an Arduino, and a RAM universal handle for phones, we were able to create a fixture within the arm that could be adapted for every single device and venue.
